I’m very surprised that this is actually my 100th post!I It sure doesn’t seem like it, but my WordPress Dashboard says it’s so. I’ve learned quite a bit over the last 10 months of blogging about myself and blogging. Though there was a couple months where I was lacking in posts due to life being a little crazy.
I’d like to thank everyone who’s stopped by and participated in this blog. I have some exciting and fun things planned for the future, like adding categories such as Suggested Movies, and I hope you come along for the ride.
For those of you who are interested there has been 8,543 views and 181 comments received since December 4th, 2007.
If you’re a new reader, here are a few articles you may have missed over the last 100 blog posts:
After the first beach trip I had the chance to be able to go back down with the same two friends for a little more than a week. Let me tell you, it was quite the experience. We went drove down to Myrtle twice and had a blast. I’ll first say that keep in mind I’ve only been to Myrtle Beach once before and that was when I was little so I was relying on the boys to let me know where to go. They had made it seem like they knew so I wasn’t worried about making sure I had directions and all that mess. Though it turned out to not be so good because they ended up not having a clue! Thank goodness for my iPhone. =]
The first trip there was comprised of getting out of the Sunset Beach area and grabbing some food. After driving and driving and looking for places we finally ended up at the Nascar Speed Grille.
There were tons of video games, Nascar cars, and of course a gift shop. The food even had Nascar seeping from it with names like “Talladega Cheesy Burger” and “Pit Crew Pulled Pork Sandwich”. My stomach wasn’t feeling well so I just went with the chicken tenders and honey mustard, which was wonderful. It’s not hard to mess up chicken tenders though. Once dinner had ended we headed over to the Nascar Speedpark to possibly race a little. (Note: I’m a racing enthusiast.) I was disappointed to get into the park and find out that my short self couldn’t ride the main attraction, Thunder Road. We decided because of that and since it was late (it was a bit pricey) that we wouldn’t do any of the typical “Speedpark” activities. Then the Skyflyer thrill ride stood out! It takes you up 100 feet, one of the riders pulls the release, and you drop. From the sidelines my other friend took some videos, with a shaky hand.
After the first time we decided after we had gotten up from the platform that we wanted to go again. =]
So once we got off the girl who helped run the ride told us about the Slingshot Ride down on the strip which was about a 10 minute drive from where we were. The exact address is 1201 N. Ocean Blvd in Myrtle Beach. The attraction is supposed to be like a reverse bungee jump, instead of falling you are propelled 210 feet straight into the air just like you are in a giant slingshot. The views at night were amazing, and you overlook the beach on the ride. Here’s a picture of it during the day:
Note: Smaller people get tossed around a little bit, if you didn’t notice from the video. Also, the video was supposed to have audio, but the people at the ride forgot to turn it on.
For the past little bit it has been movies, movies and more movies. I thought I’d share a couple that caught my eye.
Movies in Theaters this Week:
Last week I saw Lakeview Terrace which I thought was a very well done movie. Then last night a friend and I decided to have a movie night which included going to see Eagle Eye and My Best Friends Girl. In my opinion they were both worth the 7 dollars I spent on seeing both of them.
EAGLE EYE – “Two strangers become the pawns of a mysterious woman they have never met, but who seems to know their every move. Realizing they are being used to further her diabolical plot, they must work together to outwit the woman before she has them killed. Starring Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan, Rosario Dawson, Anthony Azizi and Billy Bob Thornton.”
“MY BEST FRIENDS GIRL is an outrageous, sexy, no-holds-barred romantic comedy staring Kate Hudson, Dane Cook, Jason Biggs and Alec Baldwin. Smart, beautiful and headstrong, Alexis is the girl of Dustins dreams. But after only five weeks of dating, the love-struck Dustin is coming on so strong that Alexis is forced to slow things down permanently. Devastated and desperate to get her back, Dustin turns to his best friend, Tank, the rebound specialist. A master at seducing and offending women, Tank gets hired by freshly dumped guys to take their ex-girlfriends out on the worst date of their lives an experience so horrible it sends them running gratefully back to their beaus.”
LAKEVIEW TERRACE – “A young interracial couple move into their dream home and are increasingly harassed by their next-door neighbor, a tightly wound black LAPD officer. When the couple decides to fight back the feud turns deadly.” Starring Samuel L. Jackson, Patrick Wilson, and Kerry Washington.
And I will also mention on Tuesday the chick flick of the year “Sex and the City” came out on DVD. I did not get a chance to see it in theaters but I did go out and buy it, and I loved it.
SEX AND THE CITY – “Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda continue their adventures in both sex, and Manhattan, four years after the series ended. Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Christopher Noth, racks of designer clothes and the city of New York. Directed by Michael Patrick King.”
Over the past two months you might have noticed I haven’t been around, but I’m back again with a brain full of random tidbits for you.
In August I went back to Sunset Beach with my two friends and had a very interesting time to say the least. It was full of adventures and a little bit of fighting, which is never good for beach trips though it happens. I will be posting about this trip more in depth, which will include a couple videos of the adventures that we went on in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Be sure to check in for the post!
The rest of my time has been spent on school, rekindling friendships and watching tons of movies.
That’s it for now, but I will have loads more to come! =]
I was extremely excited to see “The Dark Knight” and after 2 hours and 32 minutes this is what I thought of the movie without giving any spoilers in a nut shell: It was exactly what I was expecting, a movie that would blow me off my feet. Christen Bale gave another perfect performance along side of Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine. I personally felt that Katie Holmes is better suited to play Rachel Dawes rather than Maggie Gyllenhaal. Do not get me wrong Maggie Gyllenhaal had a wonderful performance, I just would have rather seen Katie Holmes in the role again. I love that director Christopher Nolan has taken the Batman comics and turned it into realistic life scenario. Ok, well not exactly realistic but enough to where it is imaginable. In three words I would describe it as breath-taking, shocking and horrid (in a good way). All the wonderful reviews and things you have heard is true, so get out there and watch the movie if you haven’t yet.
