Living to 100?

I found an article on CNN.com by Dr. Sanjay Gupta titled “The Secret to Living to 100“, leading me to take the quiz on Livingto100.com.

Livingto100.com

“The Living to 100 Life Expectancy Calculator uses the most current and carefully researched medical and scientific data in order to estimate how old you will live to be. Most people score in their late eighties… how about you?”

After answering 40 short questions related to my health and family history, I was told that my calculated life expectancy is 94 years. =]

The reason I like this site so much is after the quiz you get personalized feedback and a list of things you can do differently to add years on to your life.

Free AT&T WiFi for iPhones

This morning free AT&T WiFi for iPhone users is confirmed by this free text message from AT&T saying:

AT&T Free Msg

Exciting! The AT&T website claims that “they know what’s hot”. Apparently they do! iPhone users can receive Wi-Fi from places like airports, hotels, universities, convention centers, sports centers, Starbucks locations that are equipped with a hotspot, restaurants, bookstores, and even SUPERMARKETS!

Users can access the Wi-Fi by:

  • Activating Wi-Fi from settings
  • Select “attwifi” from available networks
  • Entering the 10-digit cell number, and checking agree to a Acceptable Use Policy
  • Upon receiving a text messing with a secure link it’s just a click away

Note: That particular link is only valid for 24 hours. Find out more at www.att.com/attwifi.

“The Great Pumpkin House”

The Great Pumpkin House, by Dave Fatella

The Great Pumpkin House can be found at 748 Beech Street in Kenova, West Virginia. Ric Griffith, the owner, and many volunteers carve over 3,000 pumpkins for display at his home every halloween. With 3,000 designs they have incorporated themes throughout the yard, including Christmas, the alphabet, patriotic and of course Halloween. The main attraction is the wall of pumpkins that have instruments carved into them, making up a “pumpkin orchestra”. The pumpkins are synced with a computer program that lights up the instruments that are heard in the song played.

Griffith said to The Parthenon, “It is funny to see people clap after the songs are over, they are pumpkins, not actual people playing.”

A video of the “pumpkin orchestra” taken last year:

Dealing With Police

I don’t even remember how I came upon RideLust but I found a very eductional post titled “Protect Your Rights: How To Deal With The Police If You Get Pulled Over”. I’ve always known that I do have rights, just not what exactly they were and how to use them.

This first video is of Mr. James Duane, a professor at Regent Law School and a former defense attorney, telling you why you should never agree to be interviewed by the police.

This is part two from the above video. The experienced police officer tells you why you should never agree to be interviewed by the police.

And the third video is from FlexYourRights.com, on what to do if your pulled and other situations. Like what if the police show up at your door while you’re having a party.

What do you think?

A Ghost Causes a Car Wreck

In the spirit of Halloween I thought I’d share this video that I was shown about four months ago.

Real or fake? Read on to find out.

Photos from the Graveyard

I was able to save six decent photos from the shoot yesterday, thank goodness. I will be trying to figure out if I can salvage my camera today. Cross your fingers!

Oh no! My camera.

About a month ago I set my camera down on the side of something to say hello to friends and someone accidentally hit it, making it fall to the ground. I ran to it thinking I would find it on it’s death bed. Luckily, it turned on and still took pictures. Though, it had a wound on it’s bottom left corner.

For the past month I’ve still been using it and haven’t noticed a thing until yesterday while taking some photos at a local graveyard. Here’s the picture that was taken.

Graveyard Geese

Urggggggggggg, I’m really hoping the result of this is because I left my camera in the cold car over night and not from the fall. I’m kinda nervous about it and am hoping I’m not going to get a new camera.

Favorite iPhone Apps

I’ve gone a little app crazy I guess you could say, with 76 iPhone applications that have been listed on my post “Downloaded iPhone Apps“. The next question is which apps are my favorites and most used? Of course the Phone, Camera, Text, Safari, Mail, and App Store are at the top. Other than the vitals here’s the list of my favorite and most used apps that I’ve downloaded via the App Store.

Shazam
I’ve always wanted to be able to know what that song I just listened to on the radio was and the announcers would never say. Shazam comes in handy for knowing. All you do is hit the “Tag Now” button on the top right corner and let the app do the identifying for you.

Movies
The name speaks for itself. Movies lists a catalog of over 50,000 films and more than 10,000 trailers. You can see when and where the movie is playing at local theaters and even see what others have rated the movie before you go out and see it.

Facebook
Oh the Facebook app! What more do you need other than complete mobile Facebook? With the recent update it’s more functional than ever, you’re on Facebook, just without the computer. I would like to see the wall-to-wall feature on the application.

Remote
Remote turns your iPhone into a mobile iTunes library right from your computer. It comes in handy when you’re listening to music across the office or house and you don’t want to run all the way back to your computer to pick the next song. All you need is a WiFi and about 3 minutes to configure everything.

Twinkle
Twinkle is Twitter on location and picture steroids. You don’t even have to have a twitter account to chat with people that are nearby or halfway around the world. I use it to update my twitter account when I’m not around my laptop and to attach photos I’ve taken from my iPhone.

Wurdle
I must warn you I’m a huge Boggle nerd, born and raised I guess you could say. Wurdle takes Boggle to another level and integrates it with the iPhone.  I’m in love. Wurdle claims in the App Store that it’s the most popular paid word game on the iPhone.

Scrabble
EA has brought Scrabble to the iPhone. I’m just reading what is in the new version and it seems that two players can link via WiFi to play against each other. That will come handy when my mom and I are bored together somewhere, no one will ever know what exactly we’re doing.

Tap Tap
Is like Dance Dance Revolution for your fingers. I can’t quite get the hang of it, but I’ll keep trying.

EA announced that The Sims 3 is scheduled for release on the iPhone along with Need for Speed Undercover. These are on my list to keep a look out for!

“EA Mobile today also announced nine titles in development for the iPhone and iPod touch, pending regional availability. This list includes YAHTZEE Adventures, EA Mini Golf, Lemonade Tycoon™, Mahjong, MONOPOLY: Here & Now The World Edition, SimCity, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 09, Need for Speed™ Undercover, and The Sims™ 3.”

Happy iPhone-ing!!!
