Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park

From November 15, 2008 through January 1, 2009 Tanglewood Park of Clemmons, North Carolina becomes a spectacular winter light show that is open to the public. Visitors can drive their own vehicles through the course or for a fee take a hay ride or carriage ride. There are over one hundred displays and over a million lights filling up the park. View a map of the light displays here.

On November 20th I visited the park for this first time this year and was amazed that no cars were in front of our car or behind. It’s normally slam packed, it was actually quite nice. I was determined to get a video going through the park, but I ran out of memory. I did get some pictures of some of the displays and will hopefully have a video up soon. =)

What if the Matrix ran off of Windows?

The video ”The Matrix Runs on Windows” is from CollegeHumor. This gave me quite the giggle, you’ve gotta love Windows XP and that little paper clip. Well not really, I don’t miss it. =P

Spider Drawing by David Thorne Sold On eBay

Here’s a little bit of the history that goes with the story. The infamous drawing of the 7 legged spider by David Thorne was sent to an overdue account for compensation. Below is the beginning of the conversation and find the full conversation on Geekologie. Let me tell you it was definitely worth the read, and gave me a laugh.

So here we have this creative conversation, and now the spider has been sold on eBay for $10,000! Of course it was the 7 legged version not the remade 8 legged version. Crazy, huh? Someone is now making accessories for this spider and also selling them on eBay. I wish that I would have thought of something like that. ;]

“However, this spider is driving me nuts. Also he’s lacking a leg and thus is useless to me. I now offer you to buy this fine piece of spider for the original price set my the artist David Thorne himself.

At $233.95 this should be considered a bargain for the original drawing in this Internet meme!

I will donate some of the money for American Breast Cancer Foundation.”

Change of WordPress Themes

Over the past month I’ve been playing around with different headers and colors. I’m happy to say that I’m pleased with the current layout. =]

Here’s a look back on the past two variations:

Old Theme, two

Old Theme, three

Gmail Introduces Integrated Themes

After using Hotmail for a couple years when I was younger I discovered Gmail and have been a fan ever since. Today Gmail released integrated themes which makes me a little happy that I won’t be looking at the same bland color scheme anymore. Take a look at the options (Credit: Official Gmail Blog):

I’ve got my eye on the notepad or beachy looking theme. Unfortunately the Themes tab is still not showing up under my settings, but hopefully soon. On the Official Gmail Blog it has been stated, ”To customize your inbox, go to the Themes tab under Settings. We’ll be rolling out themes to everyone over the next couple of days, so if you don’t see them yet, check back soon. As for which theme to choose, don’t ask us. We’re neutral ;)“.

Google Mobile iPhone App with Voice-Recognition

Ah-ha! The Google Mobile iPhone App with search-by-voice is available via the iTunes store now. I downloaded it last night and began playing around with it. I can definitely see it coming handy while being in the car trying to find restaurants in the area or looking up something I can’t figure out.

When I opened the App I was greeted by this boy, I’m assuming he’s hungry for a cheeseburger:

Then I hit the “Voice Search” button and got the “Speak now” screen:

After that it tells you that the App is working and then pops up with the search results. It’s really as easy as they have made it out to be.
