Apple Releases iPhone 2.2 Update

New iPhone Software Version 2.2 Ready For Download

I just plugged in my iPhone to back it up and voila there it was: “A new iPhone software version (2.2) is available for the iPhone “Cathryn’s iPhone”. Would you like to download and install it now?”. The update is here and claims to have many bug fixes and improvements for the iPhone and iPhone 3G including:

1) Enhancements to Maps:
     -Google Street View
     -public transit and walking directions
     -display address of dropped pins
     -share location via email

2) Enhancements to Mail:
-resolved isolated issues with scheduled fetching of email
-improved formatting of wide HTML email

3) Improved stability and performance of Safari

4) Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes application (over Wi-Fi and cellular network)

5) Decrease in call set-up failures and call drops

6) Improved sound quality of visual voicemail messages

7) Pressing the Home button from any Home screen takes you to the first Home screen

8 ) Preference to turn on or off the auto correction in Keyboard Settings

So far there has been no mention of copy and paste, MMS, or landscape view of text messages. Hm, I’m still waiting Apple. I’ll keep you updated as I play with my phone and hopefully find some other neat improvements for the iPhone. =]
